Lots to Talk About

Ok, where do I begin. I'm going to try and keep things short, it is Sunday night, and there are a lot of good show on that I want to watch ( I watch way too much TV smile_embaressed )

Ok, yesterday we had a small poker night, with some people from volleyball. We got into a heated discussion about politics; now I know that you should not talk about religion or politics, however I love talking about both. It was fun.

One of the girls brought over some Wasabi Sen (Chips). I don't like Wasabi, however I wanted to try some, so I opened the bag this morning and found a nice surprise in the bag.

Le Cafe Michi, good sushi

Yesterday at work, girl_handsacrossamericahethos did not bring her lunch, and she wanted to head out for something to eat. I was just going to have my protein shake, (I was doing so well with them ), but I told her that I could go for Indian, or Japanese (I should not have said that smile_embaressed, and she jumped at the opening ). She said that she knows of a really good sushi place in Scarborough ( east part of Toronto ) called Le Cafe Michi, and it has a really good chirashi bowl. I had some doubts about that statement, I have not had a good chirashi bowl, since "Sushi House" (you will have to ask girl_handsacrossamericahethos about that place). So three of us from work went out to this place. The other co-worker that came with us, lived in Japan for a number of years, and speaks fluent Japanese. He has also said that he has not found a good Sushi restaurant in Toronto, since he has moved to Canada. I told him that Vancouver and Toronto, have the best sushi, outside of Japan, and girl_handsacrossamericahethos had told him about some good places he should try out, however he has not had the time to try them out yet. So this was the first time that he was going to try one of hethos suggestions.

Well all I can say is thank you girl_handsacrossamericahethos, the chirashi bowl was so good. If you like Japanese food you have to try this place. the only thing is that it was a little pricy; $28 for the chhirashi bowl, and the service for us was a bit slow (we got back after 2pm smile_embaressed). Also our other co-worker that was with us, said that it was so good too. We all ordered the same thing.

Trying out "Windows Live Writer" and watching the Movie Ultraviolet

Now that I have more then one Blog to maintain, I felt the needed to find a tool that would let me post to all of them at once. I found a few, however they did not support MSN Spaces ( sorry I mean Windows Live Spaces ). Then I saw a review of Live Writer, from someone that does not like Microsoft, and they love it. so I thought I would give it a try, plus it supports all 4 Blogs that I have.

Ultraviolet
I'm writing this entry wile watching the movie, OMG, this movie is so bad it is hard to describe. I don't have much to say about this one, I liked the opening credits sequence, with the comic covers flying by. and the look of the film, was vary nice. However there was no story, or coherent story, or a story that I would even care about. Don't waste your time with this one. This move was on par with Catwoman.
3/10 This is a bad one smile_sick

Apple iPhone ( Disappointing )

I’m disappointed with Apple right now. Yesterday I was so giddy with excitement, after seeing the new iPhone (the name may change if they lose the lawsuit). It looked like the phone I have always wanted, and with some of the problems I have had with my O2, I was going to save up all my pennies for this one. However today I find out that the iPhone will not support 3rd party applications, WHAT THE HELL!!! How is this phone better or smarter than a “Smart Phone” if people can’t write programs for it!? They made a big deal about the fact that the iPhone has OS X on it; what does that matter, if people can’t create software for it. I’m really hoping that this is wrong, or that Apple changes their mind on this one, and 3rd party applications can be created for the phone. If not, I don’t think I will be getting one, my O2 Atom is a lot better.

What to do?

God, I’m finding it so hard to concentrate today, it is now becoming a big problem for me. I need to find something (some method, or some drug ) that will help me focus on one task at a time. I tried an antidepressant last year sometime, but I could not live with the side effects. Has anyone out there had this problem, and has found a way to deal with it? I doing this quick entry, just because I can’t focus on the work that I should be doing, or maybe it’s because I’m a bit under the weather today. Oh well back to work.

On another note, I have stopped using “Slim Fast”; I’m now trying a new meal replacement shake, called Myoplex Original. It dose not taste as good as Slim Fast however it is better for you. Also I have hit 175lbs. now I just have to keep myself under that for my upcoming cruise (witch will be hard).

Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector

I don’t care that it only got 7% on the Rotten Tomatoes web site, I loved this movie. I was laughing all the way though it, from beginning to end. It was gross poorly scripted, and a lot of the jokes, I have seen or herd before, but for some reason, this Larry guy made me laugh. I did not want to see it but Dan recorded it, and wanted to watch it tonight. I was doing work on my computer not fully paying attention to it, however it sucked me in. I will not tell any one to go and see it, however, if you come across it, give it a try, you may like it, I did. I you don’t, don’t blame me, but if you do, you can kiss my big fat black hairy ass!!!

6.5/10 Maybe I'm just in a good mood

Finally got into CORA’S for breakfast

We have been trying to find new restaurants in Markham for a long time, so when we saw a new restaurant opening up, we could not wait. The first time we want to go there, it was not open yet; the second time, we found out the place closes at 3pm, it was 3:30pm, well the place is call CORA’S breakfast-lunch. The third time, we went was this Saturday, and the lineup was out the door, I guess there are a lot of other people that want a new type of restaurant in Markham; I did not want to wait. Sunday we got up and got there for 8am, and this time we got in, but there were a lot of people there already. They are famous for their crepes and fruit plates, and was it worth the wait? I would say so, it was good, but it was a bit costly.

Random thoughts

10:00am
I was just thinking about the weather on my way to the gym this morning. Why is it so spring like in January, does this have to do with global warming, or is this just a weather cycle, thing? Now I don't ever remember it being this warm in January before, however that just might be my selective memory. Anyway, if it is global warming, it would be really bad, with China, and India become industrial power houses, I think that this global warming thing is really going to hit us in our life time, and not our children's, and I'm afraid that there is not the political will to fix it any time soon.

11:20am
I'm going to try and move away from Slim Fast. I have been looking on line for information about Slim Fast, and all the info says that Slim Fast is one of the worst meal replacement out there. So I have now found a list of alternative meal replacements. I just hope that they taste OK, and don't cost too much. I went to Ultimate Fat burner, in the hopes to find something that is good for me, and simple to use. Oh if you are interested in meal replacements to lose weight, the list I found it here.

7:00pm
I’m looking at WordPress (because of Feliyp ) for a new blog, and Flickr to manage by blog pictures. So now I’m going to also post there; now I have four blog pages. I still don’t know witch one I will drop.

Dental appointment

Off to the Dentist today. Now I have been going to the same dentist since 1975, maybe that is why I have such great teeth, and it looks like I wont have to have my wisdom teeth removed just yet. I like going to my Dentist, because he is downtown, and I love to walk around the downtown core. Plus, today was so much like a spring day, it made the walk that much nicer. Don’t have too much to talk about today, just trying to stick with my new years resolution, to keep up with my blog(s). Talk to you later.

Planetary, getting back into comics

I’m really starting to get back into comics these days, thanks to the people at the new comic book store I go to now; Heroes World. One of the guys there told me to try out Planetary, saying that no one has been disappointed with it, and I have to say that he was right
Planetary:
Warren Ellis – Writer
John Cassaday – Artist
I would say that it’s like X-Files, but using Marvel, and DC based stories, to investigate(changing the names and look of the characters) It is a new take on an Earth with super heroes. It’s well written, and the art is amazing (I think). So if you like to see a new take on stories like the Fantastic 4, or Superman, from a group of people investigating them, take a look at Planetary.

Back to the Gym

Well this is officially the first day back to the gym for me, and a lot of people. I went to my 5:30pm Body Pump class, and this time it was really packed, now on a normal day this class has a lot of participants, but this time it was really full and a lot of people arrived late for class, witch was a bit annoying. I know that I should not feel this way, but when you have been going to a class for a long time, and then at the beginning of the year a bunch of people come and take your spot in the class; and will only be there for a one or two months, it just a bit annoying. But I know that people need to start sometime, and I was a new bee too, so lets hope that they keep with it. I don’t want to become one of those people that think the gym is just for them.

I ran it to one of those type of people today,(the kind that think the gym is just for them). After I signed up for the Body Pump class, I went upstairs to see if I could find out when spinning (stationary bikes) class was going to happen, and see if I would have time for it. I was standing in front of the door to the class reading the times, and how to sign up, and this guy came up to me to tell me that I needed to sign up for the class… (Hello!! I’m reading up on how to do that!! Go away!). Well I wanted to say that, but I just said thanks and kept on reading, oh well.

Happy New Year! Happy 2007!

Hope you all had a good 2006 and looking forward to a good 2007. Did not go out this year, just stayed home, and made crab ( love crab ).
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingPhotobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The year went by so fast, and also slow, but over all it was a good year.
• Friends got married
• Dan and I found ourselves on TV, We were on the show the Biggest Loser
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingPhotobucket - Video and Image Hosting
• Brother got engaged
• Had a lot of big family get-togethers (really nice).
• Got back into playing poker.
• Started to read comic books again, and I hope it will spark my interest in art soon

The work year was not so good, however, there now have been some changes at work, and I hope things will now get better. One of my New Years resolutions will be to work harder in and outside of work, with any task I’m giving.

Ok now for some other New Year resolutions.
• The main thing I need to do is get organized; organized will all aspects of my life. I just don’t know were to start, or how, but that is my main goal.
• Save more money, and try not to spend so much at lunch.
• Continue with the Gym, and try to push myself harder. (Need to lose 30lbs)
• Do more reading, and less TV watching. (lol, I hope)
• Try and do a blog entry at least 3 times a week.
Hmm.. .there is not much more I want to change. I’m happy with my life right now, and looking forward to 2007. Just sad that this is the end of my time off work, I have to go back in tomorrow, as do most of us.

Now I’m going to go and play my new Naruto video game. “Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2” I’m loving this game, and I want the new ones that are out in Japan.

oh one last thing, my internet speed went up, still not good, but better.

New Years Eve, Movies reviews

New Years Eve Movies reviews This is just a list of movie that I have seen this year, but I did not blog about, for any number of reasons. This will be short and fast for each movie, and I hope I can remember them all.

This movie was about author Truman Capote played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, and the process he went though to write the book In Cold Blood. This was a vary well acted movie, and you can see that there was a lot of good work put into this film. However this film was boring and I don’t think that the story was well told. The acting was some of the best out there, but in the end I did not care. If you have read the book, in cold Blood, and loved it, this would be a good movie to watch, but I could not recommend this film for some one like me. This film was nominated for Best Picture; I can not understand this, it was that good.
5.5/10 Good Acting, but boring

I just saw this film, with some friend’s downtown, and it has been sometime since I have seen a movie downtown, or even taken a subway. Also this was the first time in a long time that I have had to sit in the corner of the theatre (it was a full house). Anyways, the movie how was it? Well I enjoyed it a lot; the end of the movie I found vary hard to watch, but that was because it was so well filmed. This movie felt so real and raw, I found myself questioning how they did a lot of the scenes. They do not give you a lot of back story; you have to look for the back story from other charters and thinks going on in the background.
7.5/10 You should go and see this movie

What can I say about this movie, well, it was stupid, dumb, a waist of time; the acting was so bad it was painful to watch. I really really hated this movie. Matthew Broderick was so bad in it, I can’t even describe it. It was long, and the more it went on, the more the anger built up inside me. This I would say was one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life.
1/10 Crap Crap Crap. The 1 is for Nathan Lane, he was ok.

A nice simple movie about a very liberal family, were one of the sons wants to marry someone that is a bit uptight. There not much I can say about this one, it was advertised as a comedy, but it was not a comedy in my option. You can skip this one if you want, you wont be missing anything. It was not bad, but not a must see. Just life, I guess. One side note: there was a side story that should have been the main story.

5/10 it was ok

A good kids movie, that was simple and predicable. I did not think I would like this movie, however it was so well made, I found myself smiling by the end if it.

7/10 good one

I was looking forward to this one, and I really wanted to love it too, and based on the first two films, I thought that it would not fail, But it did. Ok, so what was wrong it? First of all,

1) Halle Berry was the wrong person to play Storm.
2) They should not do the Phoenix story if they don’t have Cyclops character.
3) The story could have focus on the Rogue character, but she did not have much of a part.

There were some good things about the movie, like Kelsey Grammer as Beast, it was a nice surprise
6/10 missed out on so much potential

Hmm… I did not think much of this one before it came out, and after it came out, and I saw it lived up to my expatiation. They tried to be like the first Superman movie, and that as both good and bad. The start of the movie was good, and they stuck with the look and feel of the it, with the score, and flying though space. Now this is were I think they should have left the 70s movie behind, and started something new, however, the only thing or person that they changed was Lois Lane, and not for better. I found that she was not a strong character (a she should be). Lex Luthor was the same as the first movie, and Kevin Spacey played him really good, but I felt that he was too much of a joke. Superman, played by Brandon Routh, was really good too, however, I find that this superman dose not really work today. The Superman in the cartoons and comic books is a much better Superman, and they should have tried to work with that character. Oh well They will just have to try again.
6/10 I think it was a failed attempt

Now this was a nice surprise; this was just a well told story that did not feel it, but it was over 2h long. If you have the time you should try and see this one. There were some problems with some parts of the story, but it did not mater, it was complex, but simple too, and it all comes together in the end. Well acted, and well filmed.
7/10 Good solid movie

I have to get this poster for myself. I would say that this is me, and people that know me would say so too. This is now in my bothers room, I have to get it from him.
